view Abstract Citations (6) References (6) Co-Reads Similar Papers Volume Content Graphics Metrics Export Citation NASA/ADS The Total Eclipse of the Sun, February 25, 1952: Light-Curve Near Mid-Eclipse Batchelder, Charles C. ; Batchelder, Katharine ; Hargreaves, Richard ; Hargreaves, James Abstract Observations obtained with an electric telephotometer during the total eclipse of February 25, 1952, show (1) that the light-curve was not symmetrical before and after mid-eclipse; (2) that during totality the luminance of the sky varied with time and zenith distance; and (3) that the zenithal intensities were equal at mid-eclipse and when the sun was at ' zenith distance, during evening twilight of the same day. It is suggested that for this eclipse the terrain over which the penumbra passed was an important cause of the irregularities noted.
