Resumo

Cu K edge XANES and resonant photoemission spectra of pure Cu, ordered Cu3Au and disordered Cu3Au have been analyzed. XANES results clearly show that there is an increase of occupied density of d states at the Cu site upon alloy formation. This is consistent with data reported at the Au site and a charge compensation model previously proposed. Photoemission results show for the first time the “Cu” d band of the alloy narrowing and shifting towards the fermi level indicating d-d repulsion. Resonant photoemission satellites were found to be insensitive to electronic changes at the Cu site, confirming the atomic nature of the process.
