The replacement of the N(SiMe3)2 groups for aryloxy groups takes place on addition of Sn(OAr)2 to 1 and 2; surprisingly, the treatment of 2 with SnCl2 affords the redox products 3 and metallic tin. For each structure data were measured for 2 < 25° using monochromated MoKx radiation (λ = 0.71069 Å) on an Enraf-Nonius CAD4 diffractometer. Structure solution was by heavy atom methods using SHELXS-86, [10] using data with I ≥ 2 σI. A correction for absorption with DIFABS [11].
