Resumo

The deuterium quadrupole coupling constants of the methyl groups in methanol, methyl amine, sodium acetate, and sodium propionate have been determined from both 1H and 2H NMR spectra of the molecules dissolved in a lyotropic phase and from combined 2H and 13C T1 relaxation time studies. The last method gave values in disagreement with the values given by the first method. This has been taken as evidence of the existence of an isotopic effect on the rotational correlation time. The values obtained by the first method are the following: 155 ± 5, 166 ± 10, 194 ± 5, and 164 ± 10 kHz, listed in the order of the compounds above.
