Resumo

A technique to grow single crystals of TEA(TCNQ)2 with dimensions up to 20 × 8 × 2 mm3, by slow cooling of a seeded saturated acetonitrile solution, is described. The solubility of this compound was measured in the temperature range of 2 to 32°C. The quality of the crystals was found to be critically dependent on the presence of oxygen which decomposes the solution and which, even in small quantities, leads to a tapering at the ends of the {100} faces. Several crystal morphologies are described and the relative growth rate of the different faces is estimated.
