Without field orientation, observations made using petrological or electron microscopes are devalued and may be worthless in terms of regional geometry. Marking and collecting oriented specimens in the field is fast and should be common practice. This paper outlines some uses of oriented specimens and presents a simple method for their collection and laboratory treatment. This content is PDF only. Please click on the PDF icon to access.
