Symmetry carry-over crystallization of hexadehydrotribenzo[12]annulene derivatives was provided by specific complexation between the annulene and the chloroform molecule through mainly dispersion forces (see picture). In the complex, a hydrogen atom of the chloroform fits into the annulene's "pocket" surrounded by π electrons.
