Resumo

Charge transfer mass spectra of N2O were obtained with slow positive ions. The fragmentations from different, ionic states are given by a breakdown graph, i.e. the mass spectrum as a function of ionization energy. Proton transfer to N2O was observed for a number of incident ions. The protonated molecule N2OH+ fragmented only to N2H+ and OH+. The ion-molecule reactions in N2O were investigated with N2O+ initially formed in different electronic states. Ions in the ground X̃ state gave metastable peaks due to collision-induced dissociation to NO+ and N2+ whereas NO+ was shown to be formed in a bimolecular reaction from N2O+ in the à state.
