EnglishThe present paper reports on two studies whose aims were to gain further insight into the relationship between phonemic awareness and dyslexia. A group of dyslexic children was trained in segmentation skills, rules of phoneme-grapheme association and rules of decoding. Similar to those of previous studies, the results obtained here point to a causal relationship between writing and phonemic awareness. However, the relationship between phonemic awareness and reading does not seem to be so clear. Thus, dyslexic children instructed in segmentation skills and decoding do not significantly improve their reading skills
