Resumo

Exothermic gas reactions occurring at porous catalysts may lead to high temperature gradients within the pellet. An experimental arrangement is described which enables such temperature profiles to be investigated within a model catalyst pellet. For the case of the platinum- or silver-catalyzed H2-O2 reaction, profiles obtained at various experimental conditions have been measured and evaluated on the basis of a modified Damköhler relation.
