Resumo

Fluorescence quenching of 9,10-dicyanoanthracene is effected by both donors, i.e. inorganic anions in meOH-H2O and trialkyl and tetra-alkyl metals in cyclohexane, and acceptors, i.e. organic acceptors in MeOH. Sufficiently wide ranges of redox potentials for the three series of quenchers were utilized to enable rigorous tests to be undertaken of current theories of electron transfer quenching, relating to both polar and non-polar solvents.
