ResumoA variational principle is used to extract states of good angular momentum from intrinsic wave-functions which are not axially symmetric. It generates a diagonalization between bands on top of the usual projections. The procedure is applied to the triaxial Hartree-Fock solution for 24Mg. The resulting spectrum is too much compressed with respect to the experimental one.
