Resumo

Transmission electron diffraction patterns from CdTe single crystals exhibit anomalous diffuse streaks and a number of extra spots. The orientation and temperature dependence of the intensity of the streaks and extra spots have been studied. It has been shown that the anomalous diffuse streaks can be interpreted as the intersections of {110} sheets of diffuse intensity in reciprocal lattice with the Ewalds sphere. The presence of {110} sheets of diffuse intensity is explained on the basis of thermal diffuse scattering of electrons by low-frequency acoustic phonons with wave vectors lying on {110} planes.
