ResumoThe temperature dependence of the rate constant of the reaction SO+O2 was measured over the range of 450–585 K at 20 Torr total pressure. SO radicals were generated by photolysis of DMSO at 222 nm and detected by laser-induced fluorescence. The measured rate constants were combined with data obtained from the literature to obtain an Arrhenius expression k(T)=(2.2±0.5)×10−13exp[−(2340±90)/T] cm3 s−1 over the temperature range of 250–585 K and k(T)=1.5×10−17T1.4exp[−1868/T] cm3 s−1 over the range of 250–3500 K.
