Resumo

Rich dinoflagellate cysts associations have been studied from the Cretaceous/Tertiary (K/T) boundary interval of the El Haria section, near El Kef, northwest Tunisia. No sharp qualitative changes in the dinoflagellate cyst associations coincide with that boundary. A latest Maastrichtian-earlier Danian (unnamed) interval and an early Danian Danea californica Biozone is recognized. The biostratigraphic value of the first appearance datum of Danea californica for discriminating between latest Maastrichtian and the earliest Danian associations is supported.
