Conclusions:Smoking did not influence SVR rate in patients receiving peginterferon plus ribavirin.However, heavy smokers showed more often advanced fibrosis.Tobacco consumption promote fibrosis progression and give up the habit must be advised in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
