ResumoCancer of the lip is uncommon in males and rare in females. In 1991, 138 cases of cancer of the lip were diagnosed among men, representing 0.7% of all male cancer. The corresponding figures for women were 44 cases and 0.2%, respectively. The age-standardized incidence rate has decreased from around 5 per 100 000 in the early 1960’s to 3.1 per 100 000 in 1991. The corresponding figures for females, where a slight increase can be seen, were 0.2 per 100 000 in 1961 and 0.7 per 100 000 in 1991
