ResumoWhen methods were used that permit inactivation of α-amylase immediately after breaking the cells, the amount of maltosyloligosaccharides in liver was found to be 30- to 40-fold smaller than previously reported. With these procedures no change in maltosyloligosaccharide content was detected either under normal conditions or in some pathological situations. The evidence presented indicates that a major proportion of the oligosaccharides found in previous investigations was formed during homogenization.
