We recently assayed single serum samples collected from 12 patients with varying degrees of renal function who were receiving oral vancomycin, 500 mg four times daily, for toxin-proven, C. difficile-induced, antibiotic-associated diarrhea and colitis. Samples were collected early in the course (within the first 4 days of therapy), before attaining a clinical response, to assess the effect of active C. difficile-induced diarrhea or colitis on vancomycin absorption.Serum vancomycin concentrations...References1.
