INTRODUCTION. The Erasmus program, which just turned 25 and was established as the first mobility program for students in the European Union, is undergoing a period of change and reduction in some countries, the consequences of which have barely been analyzed. METHOD. Based on this reflections appearing in scientific literature about student mobility were reviewed, using a case study with the six most recent years of Erasmus OUT students from the area of education, at the University of Valencia, with variables such as the quantitative evolution, their level of feminization, the distribution by qualifications and destinations, as well as with their average grades, compared at the same time with the Spanish and European values and also with the analysis conducted by the author in the context of research on mobility, ten years ago. RESULTS. Multiple coincidences have appeared in the reflections on mobility, especially in matters of equity, intercultural and personal maturity. Regarding the case study, without generalizing the results of the microanalysis from a single case, the article points out that the quantitative growth line seems to have been cut from 2011, and there seems to be a significant change in destinations and some small changes related to the students’ records, while no significant change was noted with regard to feminization. DISCUSSION. The analysis of the results suggests a relationship between Ministerial interventions, cuts in aid, mandatory language requirements and economic crisis with the quantitative change of trends, as well as with the now dominant destinations. The work also poses new lines of research, such as: mobility and academic excellence, mobility and equity, mobility and scientific areas, mobility and intercultural education, mobility and economic support, tutoring mobility experiences, and, finally, it poses some new challenges that come with the Erasmus + program.
