Resumo

Ancient glasses, particularly those with an archaeological history, are often more weathered and fragile than historical glasses. Over the past 40 years, epoxy resins have become the material of choice for the repair and restoration of ancient glass. This paper describes two new techniques for epoxy fills and recommends the use of B-72 adhesive for assembly and reconstruction. B-72 is more appropriate as an adhesive as it is strong, stable, easily reversible and does not exert undue stress on the glass. The new techniques of epoxy use are the manufacture of detachable fills and lost-wax casting of complex fills.
