The tuberculin test was used routinely on the pediatric wards but not on the adult wards. Medical students were neither skin-tested nor X-rayed. It was known even then that many developed clinical tuberculosis and some died, but the risk of developing clinical tuberculosis was accepted as a part of the hazard of being a physician.In the early 1930's reports appeared that showed...References1.
