ResumoLatex beads are adhered to the surface of a chip containing polycrystalline silicon interdigitated electrodes by positive dielectrophoresis. The presence of the microparticles induces a change in the distribution of the electric fields and currents that can be detected by measuring either the conductance or the capacitance at the electrode terminals. This combination of actuation and detection with a single device is proposed as a suitable system applicable to biosensing.
