Resumo

We have found a simple analytical method to obtain the energy and wave function of the exciton ground state in arbitrary homogenic magnetic fields. The introduction of parabolic coordinates for the first time into this problem turns out to be very convenient. The low-field, intermediate-field and high-field results are in good agreement with other, much more laborious treatments. Because the method is very simple, we have reasonable hope for a successful treatment of the realistic problem of the exciton in semiconductors in arbitrary fields with provision of concrete band structure, dynamical screening, exchange interaction, etc.
