Abstract The isolation of a C 20 ‐steroid lactone from hog adrenals and its structural elucidation as 3‐oxo‐11β,18‐dihydroxy‐Δ 4 ‐etienic acid lactone‐(20→18) is described. From the same source 11β‐hydroxyprogesterone, 11‐ketoprogesterone, and 17‐ iso ‐aldosterone have been obtained for the first time.
