Resumo

Esophageal pericardial fistula is a rare and usually fatal entity. Twenty-seven cases have been reported in the medical literature with only four survivors’ ‘; esophageal pericardial fistulas are usually the result of benign ulcers, foreign bodies, and esophageal malignancies.’ The clinical manifestations vary and can include chest and epigastric pain, dysphagia, fever, weight loss, coughing, and dyspnea. Early recognition and proper therapy should improve the outcome of these patients. The case presented here reports an occurrence of esophageal pericardial fistula presenting as pericarditis.
