ResumoABSTRACT The composition of the volatile concentrates obtained from stems and leaves of three mistletoes, Viscum album L. var. coloratum grown in China, dried and fresh V. album L. var. coloratum grown in Nara and Wakayama prefecture in Japan, dried V. album L. grown in Germany and Taxillus kaempferi grown in Japan have been investigated by GC and GC/MS respectively. Each oil contained more than 200 compounds. Components of the oil from V. album var. coloratum grown in various environments were similar, although they contained some compounds possibly characteristic of their host tree. The oil of V. album contained more carboxylic acids than that of V. album var. coloratum. Constituents of the oil of Taxillus kaempferi were obviously different from that of the other two mistletoe oils examined.
