ResumoDelsartean theory and practice informed the work of Swiss composer Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, who developed Eurhythmics, a method of studying music through movement. This article explores the sources of Dalcroze's teaching, his interest in expressive movement as a new art, and the exercises and use of improvisation that became the hallmarks of his way of connecting the body and music.
