ResumoAbstract This article provides an analysis of Hesperides, or the Muses’ Garden, a seventeenth-century manuscript commonplace book, beginning with an account scholarly claims regarding the different manuscripts. By comparing the different versions, as well as material evidence, much can be established about the production and dating of these texts. The article concludes with a discussion of the role of Humphrey Moseley, who had initially entered Hesperides in the Stationers’ Register. Transcriptions of the respective catalogues as they appear in the two Folger manuscripts are provided in the appendices.
