A total of 188 OB associations were found in the region 3-25 kpc from the nucleus. Descriptions and identification charts are given for all associations. It is estimated that ten new OB associations are formed in M3 1 every 1000000 years. A number of associations are seen to consist of dense young cores surrounded by somewhat older envelopes. The diameters of these dense cores are comparable to the observed dimensions of galactic OB associations. A provisional age classification of the associations in M3 1 indicates that different spiral-arm segments have different ages. The inner spiral structure of M3 1 is found to be trailing. The outer spiral arms appear to form ring segments.
