Resumo

This paper describes the role which the PODA-2 (Piloting ODA-2) Project is playing and developing the ODA standard. Significant PODA developments include: - the formation of a EurOSInet ODA Subgroup which has increased the effectiveness of the promotion of ODA as proved by the successful CeBIT'90 demonstration at Hannover; - the enhancement and increased usage of the ODA toolkit, which is providing a common technology base for ODA product development (a number of leading IT companies have recently announced ODA products); - the acceptance of the principle of an Applications Program Interface Standard, which will offer a common applications environment for the development of the tool set and, - the development of a number of new ODA application areas including hypermedia, security, data in documents, communication requirements, structure editing and partial documents.
