Resumo

A general approach to the analysis of faulted power systems using phase coordinates is presented. Any combination of shunt, series and cross-country faults can be handled in a straightforward and general way. Different procedures based on the Thévenin/Norton theorems or on the bordering of the system admittance matrix are considered. Sparse matrix and vector techniques are employed to enhance the computational efficiency of all versions of the fault analysis program. The procedures implemented are tested and compared with reference to a small sample network and to actual power systems of medium and large dimensions.
