Abstract This study investigated the prediction of outcomes by process variables related to client and therapist behavior in support groups of children being treated for emotional and behavioral difficulties. The study included 40 groups (N=266) and 40 counselors. The association of process with outcomes was analyzed through hierarchical structural equation modeling (Mplus 5.1). The child model showed that bonding affected group functioning and anxiety, group functioning affected social competence and client behavior, therapeutic change affected anxiety, and reduced anxiety affected reduction in aggression. The therapist model pointed to encouragement, interpretation, and therapist self-disclosure as having a positive impact on outcomes and challenges as affecting them negatively. The discussion points to the importance of process variables for clinicians. ABSTRACT Diese Studie untersuchte die Vorhersage der Ergebnisse von Prozessvariablen in Bezug auf des Verhalten der Klienten und Therapeuten in Selbsthilfegruppen für Kinder, die aufgrund emotionaler und Verhaltenschwierigkeiten behandelt wurden. Die Studie umfasste 40 Gruppen (N=266) und 40 Berater. Der Zusammenhang zwischen Prozess und Ergebnissen wurde unter Anwendung hierarischer Strukturgleichungsmodelle (Mplus 5.1) analysiert. Das Model für die Kinder zeigte, dass Bindung das Funktionieren der Gruppe und Angst beeinflusste, dass das Funktionieren der Gruppe sich auf soziale Kompetenz und das Klientenverhalten auswirkte, und dass reduzierte Angst zu einer Verringerung an Aggression führte. RÉSUMÉ Cette étude a investigué la prédiction des résultats par des variables de processus reliées au comportement du client et du thérapeute dans des groupes de soutien pour enfants traités pour des difficultés émotionnelles et comportementales. L’étude incluait 40 groupes (N=266) et 40 conseillers. L'association entre processus et résultats a été analysé à l'aide d'un modèle d’équation structurale hiérarchique (Mplus 5.1). Le modèle de l'enfant montrait que le lien affectait le fonctionnement du groupe et l'anxiété, le fonctionnement du groupe affectait la compétence sociale et le comportement du client, le changement thérapeutique affectait l'anxiété, et la réduction de l'anxiété affectait la réduction de l'agression. Le modèle du thérapeute pointait sur l'encouragement, l'interprétation, et la révélation de soi du thérapeute comme ayant un impact positif sur les résultats et contestant leur effet négatif. ABSTRACT Este estudo investigou a predição de resultados terapêuticos através de variáveis do processo terapêutico relacionadas com o comportamento de clientes e terapeuta em grupos de apoio a crianças a receber tratamento para dificuldades emocionais e comportamentais. Este estudo incluiu 40 grupos (n=266) e 40 terapeutas. A associação entre o processo e resultados terapêuticos foi analisada através de equações estruturais de modelos hierárquicos (Mplus 5.1) O modelo da criança mostrou que a formação de laços influenciou o funcionamento do grupo e a ansiedade, o funcionamento do grupo influenciou a competência social e o comportamento do cliente, a mudança terapêutica influenciou a ansiedade e a redução da ansiedade influenciou a redução da agressividade. O modelo do terapeuta assinalou o encorajamento, a interpretação e a auto-revelação do terapeuta como tendo um impacto positivo nos resultados e nos desafios. A discussão mostra a importância de variáveis do processo para os clínicos. Abstract Questo studio indaga i predittori di esito riferendosi a variabili di processo relative al paziente e il comportamento del terapeuta nei gruppi di sostegno dei bambini in trattamento per problemi emotivi e comportamentali. Lo studio ha incluso 40 gruppi (N=266) e 40 consiglieri. L'associazione tra il processo e i risultati è stata analizzata attraverso un modello di equazione strutturale gerarchica (Mplus 5.1). Il modello relativo al bambino ha mostrato un effetto del fattore funzionamento del gruppo e dell'ansia. Mentre, il funzionamento del gruppo va studiato attraverso le competenze sociali e il comportamento dei pazienti. Il cambiamento terapeutico e una riduzione dell'ansia determinano un decremento della aggressività. Il modello relativo al terapeuta ha sottolineato l'incoraggiamento, l'interpretazione e il disvelamento da parte del terapeuta di una serie di contenuti personali e su come questi contenuti potrebbero avere un impatto positivo o negativo sui risultati e i cambiamenti in terapia.
