Resumo

The Fifty-fourth Annual Meeting of the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association was held at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida, on November 7–10, 2007. The President was Carolyn Reed, MD (Charleston, SC). Officers elected for the coming year are as follows: President, John Hammon, MD (Winston-Salem, NC); President Elect, Michael Mack, MD (Dallas, TX); and Vice President, Martin McMullan, MD (Jackson, MS). Also elected this year was Councilor, Daniel Miller, MD (Atlanta, GA) and Councilor, David Jones, MD (Charlottesville, VA). The following applicants were elected to membership:Jay K. Seiler Resident’s Award was presented to Thomas Varghese, MD, for his paper and presentation titled, “Surgical Treatment of Epiphrenic Diverticula: A 30-Year Experience.”The Fifty-fifth Annual Meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, on November 5–8, 2008. Co-Chairs of the 2008 Program Committee are Andrew Fiore, MD, and Paul Schipper, MD. Co-Chairs of the 2008 Postgraduate Committee are J. Michael DiMaio, MD, and Jeffrey Jacobs, MD. Chair of the 2008 Membership Committee is Michael Mill, MD.
