ResumoIn this paper a GIS toolkit (http://cartogis.ugent.be/sta_toolkit) is described that is able to assess the accessibility of urban opportunities to one or multiple persons. Based on information about the transportation system, urban opportunities and individual activity schedules, the toolkit provides a dynamic and animated view of the activity locations that are accessible to a person or group during the course of the day. By developing the toolkit we seek to contribute not only to the literature about space-time accessibility analysis and activity-based travel demand analysis but also to the dissemination of time geographical concepts to wider audiences. To achieve the latter, we have implemented the toolkit as a stand-alone application that is independent of commercial software and the platform used. Query results can easily be exported to Google™ Earth/Maps as well as conventional GIS software. As an illustrative example, a representative day-to-day rendezvous scenario was set up to demonstrate how meeting possibilities are shaped by various individual spatial and temporal constraints.
