Resumo

The laser Raman spectrum of water solutions of NaCo(CO4) was obtained from 50 to 4000 cm−1 with results which differ in significant ways from those of an earlier study. Further, they show the Co(Co)4− ion here to be in an effectively tetrahedral site environment. An assignment of frequencies to the fundamental modes of the anion in this kind of environment was made on the basis of a laser Raman study and an infrared study over the above spectral range for the salt dissolved in dimethylformamide.
