ResumoLuteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue, pyro-Glu-His-Trp-Ser-DAla6-Leu-Arg-Pro-NH·CH2CH3, was tested for induced spawning in eight species of freshwater fishes (carp and catfish). It was found that two injections of LHRH-a were effective for induction of ovulation in silver carp, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, and bighead carp, Aristichthys nobilis, at dosages of 5 μg/kg and 15 μg/kg, given 18–20 h apart; ovulation occurred within 4–8 h after the second injection. In this trial, it was also found that one injection of LHRH-a (20 μg/kg BW) induced Gunther's walking catfish, Clarias macrocephalus Gunther, to ovulate within 16–18 h after the injection.
