ResumoAn experiment is described that produces multiple-quantum magic angle spinning (MQMAS) NMR spectrum of 27Al via 1H cross polarization (CP). An application of this new technique to the study of a fully hydrated AlPO4-11 aluminophosphate is presented. It is shown that a combination of MQMAS and CPMQMAS provides new insight into the structure of this sample. While MQMAS alone can be used to obtain high-resolution spectra and quantitative information on the distribution of Al sites, CPMQMAS allows one to establish the positions of water molecules within the AlPO4-11 framework.
