ResumoThe sexual stages of the malaria parasite are highly specialized cells adapted to withstand major environmental changes during their development. They also induce immune responses that may affect the outcome of the infection in the mosquito. In this review Pietro Alano considers the nature and the role of the antigens expressed by Plasmodium sexual stages.
