ResumoRecent experiments and developments indicate the feasibility of a new generation of Tandem AMS facilities operating at terminal voltages below 1 MV. This leads to smaller dimensions, so that the equipment can be placed into a regular size laboratory. Also investment and operating costs can be reduced drastically. The potential and the problems related to these new developments will be discussed.
