Resumo

Martensitic stainless steels are widely used for their good mechanical properties in combination with satisfactory corrosion resistance. However, in recent times the need for excellent properties in specific applications (for example self-drilling and -tapping screws) has led to the research of significant performance improvements of these steels. In this paper, the heat treatment optimization, the mechanical and corrosion properties of a Ni–Mo martensitic stainless steel, designed for this purpose, were analyzed.
