ResumoI don't want to appear unreasonably attached to frogs. But this month I would like to return to the amphibian theme I essayed last year—the decline in frog and toad populations around the world, and its potential significance, as an indicator of environmental change, for human health (Lancet Infect Dis 2005; 4: 534). Since I wrote that article, there have been signs that the situation is worsening. Now one of the main organisms thought to be responsible for the demise of frogs and toads, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, has arrived in Britain.
