Transplantation of hearts from live donors, the "domino" heart transplant, occurs when 1 patient undergoes heart-lung transplantation and their heart is given, as part of a "domino" procedure, to a heart transplant recipient. The use of live donor hearts over standard cadaveric hearts has several potential advantages.
