ResumoNd3+-doped KY(WO4)2 single crystals have been grown by the top nucleated floating method. They were mainly obtained as platelets with two large (010) faces (i.e. perpendicular to the two-fold b-axis of the monoclinic lattice). The spectroscopic properties measured in the direction of the b-axis are given in two orthogonal polarizations: up-conversion fluorescence, absorption from the ground state and absorption from the 4F3/2 excited state near 1068 nm. An extention of Judd–Ofelt analysis predicts the polarized spectra.
