ResumoThe potential and the limitations of protein analysis of tissue samples are surveyed. The complexity, concentration range and dynamics of the human proteome are reviewed, as is the effect of handling and cryopreservation. Protein extraction, solubilization, resolution and detection are discussed, in relation to the properties of the human proteome.
