Abstract The i.r. spectra of the ν 2 , 2ν 3 , 2ν 1 ,ν 1 + 2ν 2 0 and 4 ν 2 0 bands of 35 Cl 12 C 14 N have been measured at high resolution and the spectra have been analyzed to obtain rotational constants and vibrational band origins. Combining these data with those in the literature, we are able to determine a set of ω s , and x ss' corrected for the effects of the Fermi resonance between the states ¦ν 1 , ν 2 , l 2 , ν 3 , > and ¦ν 1 −1, ν + 2, l 2 , ν 3 >. The dependence of the matrix element of the Fermi-resonance operator on the rotational quantum number J and on the vibrational quantum numbers ν 2 and ν 3 has also been determined experimentally.
