Resumo

Pressure-composition isotherms for hydrogen absorption and desorption are determined for Zr(FexCr1 − x)2 (x = 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 and 0.8) over the temperature range 283.2 to 353.2 K. Pronounced hysteresis and sloping plateaus are observed at all temperatures. The average enthalpies ([H][M] = 0.2–0.7) for hydride formation are −17.2, −16.2, −12.9, −11.1 kJ (H mol)−1 and for hydride decomposition are 19.5, 17.9, 15.0, 14.1 kJ (H mol−1) for x values of 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 and 0.8 respectively.
