Resumo

The electrical activity of the masseter muscle at the mandibular rest position has been studied in dentate subjects. It was first established that the clinical rest position was electromyographically reproducible. Subjects wwere then given visual biofeedback and were able to further reduce the level of muscle activity. It is concluded that the clinical rest position does not coincide with the position of minimal activity of the masseter muscle.
