Resumo

Papillary hidradenoma is generally considered to be a benign tumor of sweat-gland origin. A review of the literature revealed only one reported case of a malignant hidradenoma. Because of its rarity, we wish to report a second case. The tumor not only recurred locally after its complete removal, but also metastasized to the regional lymph nodes. Report of a Case A 54-year-old white woman was admitted to the Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Conn., on July 24, 1951, with a perianal mass which had been present for about 20 years. When it began to discharge a brownish watery fluid, she sought medical attention. The tumor was completely excised on July 28, 1951. It measured 2.5 X 2.0 cm., was pink to yellow-brown, and moderately firm. On section there was an irregular cyst 1.5 cm. in diameter. From its lining, gray-white fragments projected into the cavity.
