ResumoIn 1881, Edward Mussey Hartwell stated, “So, physicians, indeed, before they endeavor to care for the human body and preserve it from the diseases which threaten it, ought to know very accurately, and to a nicety, all the parts of the body.” These words mark the essence of clinical anatomy. This issue of our journal Clinical Anatomy continues to explore many topics that are salient to you as educators, researchers and clinicians. These topics include the history of anatomy with a cathartic paper on the research performed on executed Germans during the Third Reich by Dr. Sabine Hildebrandt and a review of the laboratory of the infamous Eduard Pernkopf by Drs. Aharinejad and Carmichael. Other papers presented in this issue describe methods for teaching better dissection courses and understanding pelvic anatomy with 3D modeling for improved medical education and surgical training, and anatomic findings pertinent to our understanding of the fat of the face and surgery of the colon, pelvis, and midfoot – Indeed, topics that run the gamut from head to toe, A capite ad calcem.
